Sacramento, CA (KTXL) — Governor Jerry Brown announced late Tuesday morning that he has signed the controversial vaccine bill, Senate Bill 277.
“The science is clear that vaccines dramatically protect children against a number of infectious and dangerous diseases,” Brown wrote. “While it’s true that no medical intervention is without risk, the evidence shows that immunization powerfully benefits and protects the community.”
SB 277 requires all school children to be vaccinated, unless an exception is given by a doctor, and does away with parents’ ability to claim a personal or religious belief exemption.
