KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Immigrant families are holding a rally today in Kalamazoo a day before a deportation lawsuit is heard in a federal court in New Orleans.

Protesters, along with County Commissioner Larry Provancher and State Representative Jon Hoadley , gathered at the 8th District Courthouse in Kalamazoo just before noon on Thursday.

Michigan United says that President Obama recently enacted reforms that granted relief from deportation to parents who have been in the U.S. for five or more years and have children, who are U.S. citizens.  They say that Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is one of the people who are involved in the lawsuit challenging the President’s actions.
