Intruder: “You’re going to smoke some weed with me right now.”

CADILLAC, Mich. – A man is in custody after allegedly breaking into an apartment with a knife, telling the resident, “You’re going to smoke some weed with me right now.”

The bizarre situation began at about 2:40am Wednesday on East Mason Street.  Police were called by a neighbor who heard the victim knocking at his door and then running.  The victim told police that he was sleeping on his couch when the intruder broke in with a knife.  After being confronted by the intruder and being asked to smoke weed with him, the victim stalled the intruder until he set the knife down.  The victim grabbed the knife and ran to the neighbors, but because he was afraid he was being chased, he didn’t wait for the neighbor to open the door.

Cadillac police officers found the suspect behind the residence where he had fallen down a steep hill.  The man, 36, resisted officers but was eventually taken into custody.  He was checked for injuries after complaining of wrist pain from police handcuffs.

The suspect is expected to be charged with Home Invasion, Resisting and Obstructing Police, and for a Probation Violation.
