JENISON, Mich. -- Kate Veldink, a 17-year-old girl who lives in West Michigan, is one of only several hundred people known to suffer from an extremely rare disorder known as Ataxia-telangectasia (A-T).

Now, members of the community have teamed up with a national organization to help raise money, and better the lives of those who suffer from A-T.  The Hess Lake Run for A-T is an event scheduled for this Saturday in Newaygo County, which will raise awareness and funds.

Watch the above video to learn more about the struggles Kate faces, and how she and her family are overcoming this rare disorder.  Click here for more information on The Hess Lake Run.
