CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. - Investigators say that they are looking for a person or persons who are causing damage to vehicles on the highway.

The incidents are happening along I-69 and I-94 in Calhoun, Eaton and Branch Counties.  Thursday, one car and a truck were hit by projectiles. The two incidents are believed to be related to a string of vehicle shootings that started in late July.

"We are doing everything possible. We are throwing resources at this, we have elevated patrols in all three counties," said Matt Saxton, Sheriff at Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says that close to 20 vehicles have been damaged on either I-94 or I-69, three are confirmed to be from gunfire.  Several were caused by debris and others were from an unknown cause.

The three vehicles that were hit by gunfire were all trucks and those incidents have happened during daylight hours in rural areas.

Police say that if your vehicle is hit, do not stop on the highway, but continue to the nearest exit and call 911.  If you have any information, you should call the tip line that has been set up specifically for this case - 269-781-9700 - or your local police department.

"If you see something, say something. We have staff here ready to respond and to follow up on all tips, no tip is too small. Maybe it's the piece we're looking for to help us get a resolution in these incidents," Saxton said.
