SHERWOOD TWP., Mich. – Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on crash of two motorcycles Sunday night.
The crash happened on M-60 near Ralston Road in Branch County at about 8:30pm.
Michigan State Police say that Patrick Adkins, 48, and his wife Kerri Adkins, 47, were heading east on M-60 when they struck a westbound motorcycle driven by Ryan Sullivan, 29, head on. Both Patrick Adkins and Sullivan were killed in the crash. Kerri Adkins suffered a serious injury to her leg and troopers, along with a bystander rendered first aid and applied a tourniquet to her injured leg. She was flown to Bronson Hospital for more care.
Police say that it appears that the Adkins motorcycle had crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, hitting Sullivan’s motorcycle. Both Adkins were wearing helmets, but Sullivan was not.
Police are still investigating the crash.
