OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. - The ribbon has been cut on a new highway in West Michigan.
The M231 bypass was officially dedicated Friday. It opens to vehicle traffic on October 30th.
M231 runs from M-45, Lake Michigan Drive, north, crosses the Grand River, and connects with I-96 near the current M-104 interchange.
The project has been in the planning stages for 20 years and has been redesigned several times to reduce the impact on homes and farmland.
