Woman’s body found on St. Joseph beach; Coast Guard searching water for another body

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The body of a 24-year-old Watervliet woman was found Friday on a beach in St. Joseph.

According to a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson, the woman and a 23-year-old man are believed to have been swept from Tiscornia Pier Thursday night.  Construction workers discovered the woman's body.

Emergency crews from the Coast Guard and other local agencies are searching the water for the missing man's body.

Michigan State Police have identified the woman as Brandi Mannino.  The man's name has not been released.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Traverse City has been called to assist with the search.  Michigan State Police and the Berrien County Sheriff's Department are also at the scene.
