Cellphone store employee robbed at gunpoint after closing

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The search is on for a suspected armed robber who police believe robbed a cellphone store worker at gunpoint Saturday evening.

Police said the robbery happened in the parking lot of the Metro PCS store at 805 Capital Ave. NE when the suspect approached the employee who had just closed the store for the night.

The employee was approached by the armed robber while at their vehicle, according to a news release from the Battle Creek Police Department.

The suspect is described as a black man who was dressed in all black, wearing a mask and hoodie. He showed a silver semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash, the employee told police.

According to police, the suspect ran away, taking some cash from the employee. A K-9 track was unable to find him.

The employee was not injured during the incident.
