GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A house is destroyed following a fire Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 12:42 p.m. in the 1300 block of Ford Ave NE.
According to GRFD, when crews arrived on the scene the fire was completely involved. They say a main concern was keeping the flames away from neighboring buildings. One home was slightly damaged.
At one point the house collapsed.
Officials say winds from the winter storm played a part in helping put the fire out.
The house was under construction and nobody was inside at the time of the fire. Investigators trying to determine the cause of the fire find it suspicious because the house had no gas lines and a limited electric supply.
Consumers energy was on scene and shut off power to the home due to the proximity of power lines.
Officials say the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
