DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Fox News says it was not about to contribute $5 million to Donald Trump’s charities in order to get Trump to take part in last night’s Republican presidential debate.

Fox says although Trump had said he was going to boycott the debate because of his feud with the network, he also said would have shown up had Fox made the donation.

Instead, Trump held his own rally last night in Iowa, while the other GOP candidates took part in their last debate before next week’s Iowa caucuses.

The Trump campaign says the front-runner’s rally raised $6 million for veterans.

Meanwhile, the other Republican presidential candidates targeted Trump anyway at the debate in Iowa.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said, “I kind of miss Donald Trump; he was a teddy bear to me.”

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who’s competing with Trump for the lead in Iowa, also mocked Trump, saying, “I’m a maniac and everyone on this stage is stupid, fat and ugly.”
