MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A police sergeant was treated and released after being injured during a reported vehicle fire Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 4:00 p.m. along I-69 near the 37 mile marker in Marshall Township.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department said Sgt. Brent Lincoln responded to a possible vehicle fire along the highway. Police said the rear tires on a tractor trailer was on fire. As Sgt. Lincoln approached the scene one of the tires exploded. Authorities said he was struck in the torso and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Lincoln was was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital for treatment.
