NILES, Mich. — Two people listed as missing persons have been found dead.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department said they were contacted Saturday and a missing persons report was filed for Steven Rough and Autumn Mehl.

They were last seen leaving a bar early that night.

Volunteers assembled at the YMCA in Niles Sunday morning and began searching the area.

A volunteer contacted the sheriff’s department just after 9:00 a.m. and said they found the missing vehicle on Bond Street near Fort Street.

Deputies said the vehicle was located  upside down in Brandywine creek.

Two people were removed from the vehicle and confirmed by families as Rough and Mehl.

Deputies don’t suspect foul play.

The case is still under investigation.
