GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — U.S. Representative Justin Amash is now endorsing Ted Cruz, after his first choice for the GOP nomination dropped out of the race.
Amash Tuesday endorsed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz for the Republican presidential nomination. Amash had early on in the campaign endorsed U.S. Senator Rand Paul, who has since dropped out of the race.
Michigan votes in the primaries on both the Democratic and Republican nominees on March 8.
In a post on the Independent Journal, Amash says that Cruz “is a principled defender of the Constitution, a brilliant strategist and debater who can defeat the Democratic nominee in the general election, and the only remaining candidate I trust to take on what he correctly calls the Washington Cartel.”
