WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he didn’t “want to see people hurt or worse” at his campaign rally in Chicago, so he decided to postpone the event.

Trump tells MSNBC in a telephone interview that, “I think we did the right thing.”

The Friday night rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago was called off due to security concerns. Supporters and protesters alike had packed into a campus arena, and for the first time during the billionaire businessman’s White House run they appeared to be of equal number.

Trump attributed the protests not to objections to his policies, but to general malaise in the United States — particularly among people upset they haven’t been able to find jobs.

“It’s anger in the country,” he said. “I don’t think it’s directed at me. Just what’s been going on for years.”

But many of the protesters at the event said they were there to stop Trump from speaking. Among them was Jermaine Hodge, a 37-year-old lifelong Chicago resident who owns a trucking company.

He says: “Our country is not going to make it being divided by the views of Donald Trump. Our country is divided enough. Donald Trump, he’s preaching hate. He’s preaching division.”

It’s amazing BLM calls for killing of police and now a rally is canceled because of these people. Take our country back !!

Security concerns in Chicago, the backyard of the POTUS, who wants nothing more than for Trump to be stopped by any means necessary? Color me surprised….not.

What, do you think Trump is an idiot? Of course he isn’t going to go to Chicago! He knows how this game is played.

Here is the question though…can this country’s government survive the civil unrest which will occur if Trump is assassinated? Can even the military stop the wrath of the people whose choice gets taken away from them by such blatant underhanded criminality from the government itself? I tend to think not. Not with the whole world watching. And they are…they are…believe me, there are more eyes watching our government than our government has watching others.

I have a feeling we will start seeing more and more random shootings of opposit race. Once people are aware of this as it will be hard to hide for long, the cleansing shale commence

      • NO PC FOR ME

The FBII website has the statistics on shootings by race.
The left always accuses the right of being violent. Well, conservative whites own 80 million firearms- legally.
If the right was to be violent, they’d know it!.
So I have to disagree with you. its not, as they say, “how we roll”.
No sir. We were raised better than that.

If you think this has anything whatsoever to do with race, and many people do, you are blind. That is something that the media is spoon-feeding you, and in reality the issue is so much bigger and deeper than that! Saying this is about race is like worrying that you have some blood on your shirt when you have been shot 4 times. Yes, racism still exists in the US. Everyone knows this, and conscionable people do what they can to addess that when the opportunity presents itself to them. That is NOT what this election is about. This is NOT why Trump feels like a threat to some people. He is not a danger to race relations. He is not a danger to civil rights. On the contrary, he is a danger to the establishment which is itself guilty of fostering policies which deliberately keep racial tensions high. Yes, his comments have been inflammatory. But when he says things like “Muslims should be banned from entering the US” and “We need to deport all illegals”, these are NOT statements which are about discriminating against race or religion. They are statements about prudent WARTIME national security measures. These statements are only inflammatory if you take them out of that context….or as in this case, if the media presents them to you out of that context.
