HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Residents in Hamilton Township brought concerns to the township board Tuesday about a man who neighbors say is causing quite a disturbance.

The man and his friends are allegedly using an explosive rifle target called Tannerite.  The explosions are shaking homes and causing disturbances.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office has investigated and found no malice connected to the incidents.  They report that the devices were detonated at a legal distance from neighboring homes, although neighbors disagree.

Investigators say the targets are legal, which makes the matter a civil issue.  Hamilton Township does not have a noise ordinance either, making this situation even tougher to resolve.  Township Supervisor Carl Druskovich says that drafting an ordinance could take up to a year.

The township is calling on the Michigan Office of Resolution Dispute to sit down with both sides and mediate a solution.  The man who has been causing the explosions would not comment to FOX 17.
