MUSKEGON, Mich. - A teen was sentenced Thursday to intensive counseling services and to pay restitution after a crash that killed a ten-year-old boy.

Jeremiah Ingram, now 15, was illegally driving a vehicle in December when he lost control and crashed into a tree on Ensley Road in Ravenna Township.  Jeffrey Jennings, who was inside the car, was killed.

Jennings' mother says she believes that Ingram found a spare set of keys to the vehicle and took them without permission.  She said that she believed Ingram was a respectable kid who made a bad decision and she is forgiving him.  Jennings' father told the court that Ingram should face tougher punishments.

The judge said that there were no winners in this case and didn't feel that locking up Ingram would make anything better.  Ingram will have to undergo counseling and pay over $4,300 to cover the costs of Jennings' funeral.
