GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 48-year-old man has been charged after police say he shot his girlfriendin the head Friday afternoon.
Cecil Thompson is charged with felonious assault and felony firearms. Police say the shooting happened at about 2:30 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Humbolt St. SE.
According to a release, Thompson told authorities he accidentally shot the woman in the head, causing a “superficial injury.” The 30-year-old woman has since been treated and released from the hospital.
Thompson is scheduled to be back in court May 6.
