GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Police are looking for the person who shot a woman Thursday morning.

The incident happened in the 1900 block of Mason NE about 9:30 a.m.  The 27-year-old woman has been rushed to the hospital with an upper body wound and injuries to her neck and face.

Police are combing the area searching for the suspect using K-9 teams.  They say they are looking for the woman's boyfriend, a 35-year-old black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police believe that the shooting was a domestic violence situation and not a random incident.  They don't believe the man is a danger to the community, but anyone who sees him should not approach him, but call police.

Police also tell us that they were called to the apartment yesterday on an unrelated incident.

We'll have more details when they become available.
