GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) – The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Michigan will reopen on June 7 after major renovations.
The museum in Grand Rapids has been closed since last fall. Renovations include construction of the 8,000-square-foot DeVos Learning Center.
Ford was a congressman from Grand Rapids before becoming vice president and then president following the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974. He died in 2006.
Ford’s family and some members of his administration will attend a gala on June 6, the day before the reopening. Tickets for the event at a nearby hotel will be sold to the public.
