GAINES TWP, Mich. — The Gaines Township Board of Commissioners unanimously approved plans for a new Chick-fil-A  restaurant to be built.

Planning and Zoning Administrator Mark Sisson told FOX 17 News that he expects a building permit request to be submitted within the next couple of days. He believes the fast food restaurant could break ground by as early as the end of May.

The Gaines Township Chick-fil-A is currently slated to be located at 1545 Edgeknoll Drive, near M-6 and Kalamazoo Avenue.

A meeting in March addressed traffic concerns with the location. Then, Chairman of the Planning Commission, Rob Deward said that the restaurant’s design firm, Progressive Architectural Design and Engineering, proposed that most of the traffic problems would be solved by just tweaking a stop light at a pivotal left-hand turn.

Talks are in place for another Chick-fil-A to open up in Wyoming. That location recently had it’s location approved, in the Meijer parking lot at 54th and Clyde Park Ave SW.
