GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Students exploring their own potential get a chance to see where their talents might fit in the career world at MICareerQuest at DeVos Place May 10. Nearly 100 employers are participating, and more than 9,000 students are expected to attend...but this event will be open to the community, as well.

“We need to expose youth to a variety of occupations and career pathways now so that they’re aware of all the possibilities that exist for great careers in West Michigan," said Jacob Maas, CEO for West Michigan Works!, in a release.

The event is more than a career fair, it's a series of activities where students can get a hands-on feel for high-demand jobs in four career areas: construction, health care, IT, and manufacturing.

The students-only session is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. After a one-hour break, the public session runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

MICareerQuest was created in 2015 by West Michigan Works!, Kent ISD, and the Construction Workforce Development Alliance.
