PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- An 86-year-old Port St. Lucie man had a cup of coffee and called his daughters before dialing 911 to say he shot his wife to death, authorities said.

Police say when they arrived at William Hager's home, they expected a standoff. Instead, he told responding officers that he had bad news and led them straight to his wife Carolyn's body, which was lying on the bed with a gunshot wound to her head, according to WPTV.

Hager told authorities he shot her because she was in very poor health and he could no longer pay for her medication.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by local media in Florida, Hager had confessed that he considered shooting his 78-year-old wife for several days because her pain was too severe.

Hager now faces a charge of first degree murder.

If there were decent public health care plan, this situation would have been avoided. Mark up another one for the GOP – –

Your comment doesn’t even make sense. We have OBAMA CARE, crammed down our throats by the DEMs and your president. How is this the GOP’s fault? LOL

How is it the GOP’s fault? We have crappy ObamaCare, no thanks to Obama who has been “reigning” the last 8 years. My mom had great medical coverage until she was forced to switch to ObamaCare. The doctors said due to her ‘bad’ insurance coverage they couldn’t give her the life saving medical treatments needed and she ended up passing away.
