  1. You’re invited to honor some of the men and women in our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The patriot guard riders were invited to place more than 5,000 American flags on graves at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids just south of 28th Street on Patterson.

It's happening at 5:30pm and the event is open to the public.

2. Starting today, law enforcement across the state will be stepping up seat belt enforcement.

The annual “Click it, or Ticket” campaign kicks off in all 83 Michigan counties.

Michigan law requires all drivers, front seat passengers, and those 15 years old and younger to be buckled up.

Wearing seat belts can reduce the risk of serious injury or death by 45 percent.

If you're spotted without your seat belt on, you will be stopped and written a ticket.

It runs through June 5.

3. As you start to venture outside more this season, officials are warning you about a certain kind of tick in the state that can cause meat allergies.

It's known as the Lone Star Tick and it's usually found in the southern and eastern parts of the country.   However, it's increasing in numbers here in Michigan.

An entomologist with Michigan State University told The Times Herald of Port Huron there was a time when ticks weren't a concern in the Lower Peninsula.

It’s not clear what's causing the increase of ticks in Michigan.

It's worth noting that not everyone who's bitten will develop a meat allergy.

4. Today 30 years ago, Ferris Bueller took his infamous day off.

Last weekend, fans celebrated the iconic Chicago film with Ferris Fest.

As one of the highlights, hundreds recreated that famous parade scene in Daley Plaza on May 22.

The parade was just one of the many weekend Ferris Fest events.

Fans also got to tour shooting locations, attend a screening of the film, and check out a recreated version of Ferris' bedroom.

The iconic Chicago film was released June 11, 1986.

5. It might be time to take a trip to Sweetland Candies, the Peanut Store, or wherever you find your favorite saltwater taffy, because it’s National Taffy Day!

The taffy originated on the Atlantic City boardwalk and has been sold for nearly 100 years. It’s become a favorite souvenir and treat for many vacationers across the country.

This confection is made with boiled sugar and butter that is stretched and pulled until it's a chewy consistency that can be flavored, rolled and cut.
