COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- While traffic on southbound US-131 was backed up due to a lane closure, one car rear-ended another car and caught fire, closing the southbound lanes at West River Drive. The crash and fire took place around 7:40 a.m., and the freeway was reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
While traffic at first was routed off the highway via the exit ramp to West River Drive, eventually drivers were allowed to slowly move around the scene as fire, state police, and county units doused the fire and cleared the scene.
