DETROIT (AP) — Documents say a Detroit People Mover train continued along its route uninterrupted for eight stops after running over a man last month.

The Detroit Free Press reports workers appeared to have been unaware that 53-year-old Michael Whyte of Detroit fell onto the automated rail system’s tracks May 15 until they were notified by police that someone was struck.

Documents reviewed by the newspaper show an approximately 13- or 14-minute gap between the time Whyte fell between two rail cars onto the tracks while trying to board a train at the Times Square station and when police contacted People Mover workers after getting a 911 call.

The city has said there appeared to be no operational or mechanical issues involving the train leading to the death, which was deemed accidental.
