Grand Rapids police to staff two officers per car this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— The Grand Rapids Police Department is making some changes this weekend in reaction to the attack on police in Dallas.

According to GRPD, the department will be staffing two officers in every patrol car through the weekend.  This will be in effect for all shifts.  Officers are usually in a patrol car alone.

The department says this is out of an abundance of caution for the safety of their officers.  We are told they will re-evaluate this change on Monday morning.
