DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – There are sneaky ways of shoplifting items, but one Michigan man decided to try a more direct approach.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Department says they were called to the Walmart at 409 N. Marketplace Blvd. in Delta Township Tuesday night about 9:00pm on reports of a retail fraud in progress. Employees had called after seeing a man in the store who had allegedly taken four televisions from the store over the weekend.
The man apparently had three televisions loaded into a cart. He then just wheeled the TVs out of the store without paying for them and loaded them up in a waiting car. The car left the lot, but was quickly pulled over by deputies.
Officials say the 37-year-old man was arrested for felony retail fraud and is being held awaiting formal charges. A 37-year-old woman, who police say was driving the car, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and posted bond.
