HOLLAND, Mich.– Occupants of a home on 472 Columbia Avenue in Holland were able to safely escape from a kitchen fire Tuesday evening.

Around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, Holland firefighters were dispatched to the Columbia Avenue residence to reports of a fire. Upon arriving, there was smoke coming from the 2 story residence.

All occupants of the residence were able to escape safely, with only one male occupant sustaining an injury – a small burn to his arm that was able to be treated on the scene.

The cause of the fire is said to be a pan of oil on the stove that ignited. The fire stayed in the kitchen, but there was some smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.
