KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is trying to find a teenager who jumped out of a moving vehicle and ran away, after being released from the hospital for a failed suicide attempt.

It happened Tuesday night near the intersection of West Main Street and N Drake Road in Kalamazoo. Police say Michael Thornton, 16, jumped out of a moving vehicle near that location and started running towards Drake Road.

Thornton was just released from the hospital on Monday following a failed suicide attempt, and his parents worry that he may still be a danger to himself. He is described as 5’9″ tall and 115 lbs. with short, sandy brown hair that covers his forehead. He was last seen wearing a teal blue t-shirt with ‘Girls on the Run’ printed on the front, and black Hollister pants. He was not wearing any shoes or socks at the time he ran away.

Anyone who may have further information is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269-383-8748 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
