KALAMAZOO TWP., Mich. - A Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputy escaped injury after his patrol car was hit by a driver of a minivan.

The crash happened at about 5:00am Thursday on West Main at Kendall Avenue.

Kalamazoo Township police say the deputy was driving east on West Main when he was hit by the minivan heading north on Kendall.  The impact caused the deputy's vehicle to roll over.

According to police, the driver of the minivan, a 23-year-old Oshtemo Township man, then drove away from the scene and went home.  Family members contacted police after he got home after seeing the damage to his vehicle.  The man was not injured and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The deputy was not injured either.  The deputy was not responding to an emergency call and did not have its lights or sirens activated.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
