FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened in St. Joseph County on Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on US-12 near Sweet Lake Road in Fawn River Township near Sturgis.
A 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck was turning into a driveway, when a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle struck it from behind. The rider, identified as Zachariah Himebaugh, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 45-year-old driver of the pickup and his passenger were uninjured in the crash.
High speeds are believed to have been a factor.
