HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two suspects are on the run after police say they forced a married couple at gunpoint to drive to ATMs in a failed robbery attempt that ended in a crash.

It started at around 2:45 a.m. at the AAC Credit Union on Riley Street in Holland Township. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a woman and her husband had stopped at the credit union to check their account balance. When the woman got out of the driver’s seat, a man armed with a handgun forced her back in, as a second suspect also entered the vehicle behind the husband in the passenger seat.

From there, the two suspects ordered the couple to drive to a second ATM in hopes of obtaining money.  When the couple was unable to get any cash, the suspects forced them to a third location.  Before they could arrive, the husband grabbed the wheel and the vehicle lost control, causing a crash.  Both suspects ran from the scene.
