MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Muskegon Police Department is warning citizens to lock their vehicles after a series of car break-ins.

In the past week, MPD reports that unlocked cars have been entered and items have been taken such as wallets and a purse.

The incidents did not occur in one specific area, so police are asking all citizens of Muskegon to take steps to reduce their chances of becoming a victim.

Recommendations are that vehicles always be locked, regardless of how long you’re leaving it for, and do not leave valuables in plain sight, whether it’s in your yard or inside your garage.

If you have any additional information about these break-ins, please call the Muskegon Police Department at (231) 724-6750 or Silent Observer at (231) 72- CRIME.
