Power knocked out to 1,400+ people after car hits utility pole

KENTWOOD, Mich. — More than 1,400 people in Kentwood lost electricity after a car hit a power pole Sunday evening.

The vehicle drove off the road and hit a power pole near 44th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue around 6:10 p.m., according to dispatchers in Kent County.

Information about the driver involved or what led up to the crash were not immediately available.

According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, the power is expected to be restored by 10:30 p.m.
