Pro-marijuana group loses appeals over access to ballot

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Marijuana won’t be on Michigan’s statewide ballot in November.

The state appeals court and the Michigan Supreme Court each turned down appeals Wednesday by a group trying to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.

A group called the Michigan Comprehensive Cannabis Law Reform Committee submitted 354,000 signatures, apparently enough to get marijuana on the ballot. But the Board of State Canvassers said more than 200,000 were collected outside a 180-day period, a decision that left the group short of enough names.

In August, a judge at the Court of Claims said the state had “no clear legal duty” to count the stale signatures.

It’s a herb, it’s a plant not a drug! Such a shame that everything is about money and the pharmacitical and liquor industry won’t be doing to well once all the benefits of such a beautiful plant come out. I remember in school they drilled it on our head marijuana was bad, but wait alcohol dehydrates, is bad for your liver, people black out and lose things wait I’m still trying to find a benefit for alcohol. Marijuana and hemp can be used as medicine for sleep, stress, throwing up, paper, fuel, and so much more do your own research don’t follow the propaganda.

There’s too much money in locking people up to allow people to be free to make their own choices. Those that are profiting won’t allow that stream of money to be cut off.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have. stop asking permission for things you already have the God-given right to do The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.
