GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Detectives with the Grand Rapids Police Department are working to find who's responsible for the shooting death of a 27-year-old man late Wednesday night.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Oxford Street SW at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a reported shooting. The 27-year-old male victim was located at the scene and rushed to St. Mary's Hospital where he passed away. The victim hasn't been identified by police at this point, who're still working to notify the next of kin.
The victim was found in close proximity to Oxford's Food Center, near the intersection of Oxford Street and Dorchester Avenue in the city's Black Hills Neighborhood.
Police say they're interviewing at least two potential witnesses who say they heard multiple gunshots at the time of the shooting. Police also say the victim was struck by gunfire multiple times.
The preliminary suspect description given by investigators at the scene is a black male, approximately 5'5", 125 pounds who was last seen wearing dark clothing.
