GRANDVILLE, Mich. - If you've been wondering what the tall castle-like structure being built off of 28th Street and I-196 is, it will be a castle.

The Grand Castle Apartments are taking shape and are modeled after King Ludwig's castle in the Bavarian region of Germany.

The site used to be a mobile home park.

The new building will be 15 stories tall and will offer 400 apartment units.  There will also be two stories of 750 parking spaces.  It is being built near a 26-acre lake and will offer an indoor gym, dog park and a resort-style swimming pool.  The top floor will be two-story sized penthouses with ten foot ceilings and open decks.

The project is costing $36 million.

Land & Co. owns the building, as well as other apartment complexes around town and in Grandville.  They say this type of a complex has been a dream for a long time.

Apartments will cost between $950 and $3,000 per month.  The project is expected to be finished by June of 2017.
