LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) — A roughly half-mile-long ice cream sundae that was gobbled up in Michigan this year ended up being a record-setting one.

The Ludington Daily News reports Guinness World Records informed Ludington this week that ice cream shop House of Flavors holds the record after the June event.

Thousands of people lined eight blocks in Ludington, a Lake Michigan town 100 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Officials say the sundae measured a bit over 2,970 feet in length.

According to Guinness, the previous record for the longest ice-cream dessert of 1,957 feet and 1 inch was set in 2015 in Manurewa, New Zealand.

Ludington’s record may be short-lived, however. MLive.com reports Moo-ville Creamery and others in Nashville, Michigan, tried to break the record Sept. 17, making a dessert that spanned 3,656 feet.
