KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo County Sheriff is warning area residents that there is a phone scam going around targeting Kalamazoo County residents specifically.

The department reports that the call comes from a person identifying themselves as “Officer Hall” and he tries to scare the victim by saying there is a warrant out for the victim’s arrest and they need to make arrangements to pay their bond.  The person then asks the victim to call 269-245-0951 to make the arrangements.

The message at that number says it is the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, but Sheriff Rick Fuller says the number is not affiliated with his office in anyway.

Anyone who received the call or may be a victim should call the real Sheriff’s office at 269-383-8821.  The sheriff also reminds everyone that calls using scare tactics are always suspicious and you can contact the Sheriff’s office if you suspect any phone solicitation.
