HASTINGS CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities are looking into what cause a fire to break out at a quonset hut in Hastings Charter Township.
Crews responded to flames of a barn fire at 4:54am.
According to a lieutenant on scene, flames were upwards of 75 feet when they first arrived.
The hut was holding multiple cars, car parts, tires, gas, oil and other miscellaneous items.
The fire required extra man power and trucks because the location of the fire is in a no hydrant area.
"Woodland, Freeport and Hastings Fire Departments are all on scene," said Lt. Forbes with Freeport Fire Department."We had a full response of about three departments, Pretty normal for a fire this size, But, because of the amount of water, we are in a non-hydrant area, so we need tankers to bring water and keep that available for us. In a rural area you need more vehicles than normal because of having to bring water."
Right now, a cause for the fire has not been determined. Stay with FOX17 on air and online for updates.
