Monday morning, officers from the Cass County Sheriff's Office were able to save a man from a burning car following the crash.

The one-car crash happened this morning before 7 a.m. on Redfield Street near Maple Glen Drive in Mason Township.

After hitting a tree, the pick-up track involved in the crash lit on fire, and witnesses reported that the driver was stuck in the vehicle.

Cass County Deputies found the driver trapped and were able to free him with the assistance of an Ontwa Township officer.

The driver was not injured from the crash.

Investigation from the officers shows that Scott Stoneburner, a 57-year-old man in Elkhart, IN., was experiencing a medical issue and lost control of his pickup.

Stoneburner was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
