ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Ottawa County firefighters battled a commercial fire at a building housing several businesses Saturday.
The fire was first reported as smoke seen at 10:33 a.m. Saturday at a building shared by Cutting Edge Excavating, HT Auto Service, Nykamps Leasing and Top Grade Aggregates at 5182 Chicago Drive. The businesses are located in Zeeland Township but have a Hudsonville address.
Upon arriving at the scene, Zeeland Township Fire Department firefighters found heavy smoke and flames shooting through the roof. Mutual aid was called in from fire departments around Ottawa County. Tankers were called to the scene from as far away as Byron Center.
Chicago Drive was closed to traffic between 48th Avenue and 56th Avenue for more than two hours due to the blaze.
There were no injuries.
The investigation continues into the cause of the fire.
